AccuDownloader does not collect information about you
AccuDownloader has no account system, no analytics and no advertising. It does not track the pages you visit, it does not build a profile of you, and it does not sell, rent or share information with anyone.
What AccuDownloader reads on your computer
To find the videos on a page, AccuDownloader reads the page you are viewing and the responses that page receives, on your own computer. It looks only for video files, audio files and streaming playlists. None of what it reads is sent anywhere.
What AccuDownloader stores on your computer
- The list of videos found on each open tab, which is cleared when you leave the page or close the tab.
- Your settings: the theme, the size of the popup, whether previews are shown, and the folder you chose for downloads.
- Your download history: the name of each video you saved, its file name, the folder it went to, its size, its quality and the date it finished. This never includes the address of the page or the video it came from, and you can remove any of it from the Downloads tab of the settings page.
- Your licence record, if you entered a licence key: the key, the identifier of this computer's activation, the name on the purchase, and the date the licence was last confirmed.
All of this stays in your browser's own storage on your computer. Removing AccuDownloader from the browser deletes it.
What AccuDownloader sends, and to whom
- When you download a video, AccuDownloader requests that video from the website it came from, in the same way the page itself does.
- When you enter a licence key, and every few days after that, AccuDownloader sends the key and a short label for this computer, such as "AccuDownloader on macOS", to Polar, the company that sells and issues the licence keys. Polar replies with whether the key is genuine and the name on the purchase. Polar's own privacy policy covers the information you gave it when you bought the licence.
AccuDownloader sends nothing else to anyone.
Why AccuDownloader asks for its browser permissions
AccuDownloader asks for access to the sites you visit so that it can notice video on whichever page you are viewing and download it with the same access that page has. It asks for the downloads permission to save files, the storage permission to keep the settings listed above, and the scripting permission to find the videos and preview pictures on a page. It uses these permissions only for those purposes.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Questions about this policy can be sent to the support address shown on the AccuDownloader store listing.
